W IS FOR WINTER!

Let it snow, let it snow let it STOP!
It started at 10 pm on Friday and snowed till midnight on Saturday. This was the earliest storm of this size on record for the Baltimore area. We received about 24 inches and Saturday the city came to a halt. It was the great! I didn't have to work and I stayed in my jammies till noon ! Wrapped all my Christmas gifts and rearranged my kitchen cupboards. It's Tuesday now and they still haven't plowed my street. The snow has frozen to the road and the three miles to the main street is a long scary ride. Ok I'm ready for spring! More ABC Wednesday on the sidebar.

Same shot different day!

I love to see the same shot in a different season. This was the day after the blizzard of 2009. Annapolis measured 24 inches of snow. It was beautiful on Sat but this is Tuesday morning and my street still hasn't been plowed!

Wednesday night throughout the summer months Annapolis holds sail boat races. I'm not really into sailing but it makes for beautiful pictures! This is a typical Wednesday evening.

R is for Rockefeller!

Rockefeller Center is one of my favorite New York photo sites. This shot was taken in Oct. If you visit now it's all decorated for the holidays. Yes the skating rink is open to the public but you do have to wait in line so bundle up and enjoy.

Q IS FOR QUIET

Q is for quiet. I hope you spend some QUIET time reflecting on our servicemen as we celebrate Veterans Day. This is the cemetary at the US Naval Academy. The lower shot is preparation for a military funeral for one who has made the ultimate sacrifice. Take time to thank a veteran today.

This is the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. This is taken at about mile 23 so they are looking a bit tired. If you enlarge you'll see the Jefferson Memorial in the back. Beautiful fall day, perfect running weather.

REFLECTIONS!

Beautiful fall morning in Washington D.C. This was the perfect day for the Marine Corps Marathon. We jumped on and off the metro following our friend running his first marathon. He finished in 3:07:41 and his dad would've been very proud. This reflection was a nice surprise as we walked across the bridge.

O is for Orioles!! Great evening for a ball game at Oriole's Park Camden Yards in Baltimore MD.
Obviously with the full seats the game was very early in the season. Okay maybe next year will be theirs.

We took my grandaughter to the county fair and she enjoyed "milking" the cow. She really had a lot of fun and took it very seriously. The real animals freaked her out but this wooden cow she enjoyed! Go figure.

SCENIC SUNDAY

Mallard Island Wedding Chapel located at the bridge to Long Beach Island N.J. I loved this little chapel and thought it would be a great venue for my daughters wedding. I didn't know that a Catholic wedding must be held inside a Catholic church. Learn something new everyday!

REFLECTIONS

I arrived home after work today and at the end of my street the sun was reflecting in the water. It was so bright it looked like the water was on fire. This picture doesn't do it justice. You may try enlarging it really was awesome.

SKY WATCH FRIDAY

Every Wednesday evening before the summer sun sets over Annapolis, the Severn River becomes a nautical small town. The sailors exchange pleasantries, then prepare to race.
The Annapolis Yacht Club's Wednesday night racing series lets sailors pit their wits against the elements on a zig-zag course beginning at the Severn and stretching into the Chesapeake Bay. The races are a midweek mental-health break -- a place where sailboat enthusiasts can bring their children, their parents or a new romantic interest and not take the competition too seriously. I great place for camera buffs too!

This lovely little chapel in St. Augustine Fl is dedicated to Our Lady of La Leche . The is the first shrine dedicated to the Blessed Mother in the United States.

SCENIC SUNDAY

This is a quiet morning on the Chesapeake Bay. Those baskets on sticks are actually crab nets. Lot's of people still enjoy catching crabs by tieing a chicken neck to a string and attaching the string to the pier. When the string is pulled taut you have a Maryland crab nibbling and the game begins. It's really fun to drag the string in towards the pier slowly enough that the crab doesn't "get it". When they get close you scoop them up using these long handled baskets. It's easier to throw a crab pot in the bay and come back for it later but not half the fun.

WEEKEND REFLECTIONS!

Chicago is such an amazing city. Reflections are everywhere! I took this during the Riverboat Architectural tour. I highly recommend this scenic ride through the city.

Olympic committee missed a great opportunity. I've very disappointed.
