K is for KNOT!

Found this tree stump in St. Augustine Fl. I love the different shades of the wood. I would love to know who lives in that hole. Check out more ABC Wednesday on the sidebar.

SCENIC SUNDAY

Sunset Beach N.C. has a sand creation contest each year. I was actually unaware of the event so this was taken with my cell phone. The beach was empty that evening. All the sand festival events were over and these beautiful creations were just waiting for the tide to take them out to sea. Next time I'll plan better.

SKY WATCH FRIDAY

This is the Naval Academy Bridge over the Severn River. I love peeking over the weeds. My goal is to run this bridge. I talk about it a lot but...haven't attempted it yet. Not the distance but the hill from both sides is whats making me pause.

SCENIC SUNDAY

This is the US Naval Academy, Annapolis MD. The beautiful overlocation on the Severn River and Chesapeake Bay makes this a perfect picture spot from anywhere on campus. This is home to approximately 3,500 young men and women attending college and preparing for their career in the Navy or Marine Corps.
BEAT ARMY!

SKY WATCH FRIDAY

So this huge nest is sitting on top of a telephone pole in my neighborhood. You can't help wonder what gigantic bird reside here. I thought the plane in the second picture was a possiblity :)

Finally I returned, after many tries, and found this osprey sitting beside her nest. You'll have to enlarge it to appreciate her. They are endangered so their nest can't be disturbed till their young have left. This is a problem in the spring as they love to nest on boats that are dorment for the winter. About this time of year they head to South America for the winter. Don't you wonder why Florida isn't warm and far enough?

Scenic Sunday

Flagler University, St. Augustine Florida.
The college is named for Henry Morrison Flagler, a Gilded Age industrialist, railroad pioneer and partner with John D. Rockefeller in Standard Oil. In 1888, Flagler built the Hotel Ponce de Leon, his first in a series of luxury resorts along Florida’s east coast

The Edison Electric Company powered the building with steam heat and 4,000 electric lights, making the Ponce one of the nation’s first electrified buildings. Louis Comfort Tiffany is credited with the building’s interior design including the stained glass and mosaics.

SKY WATCH FRIDAY

This is the Naval Academy Bridge built in 1994 to replace the 1920 draw bridge. I remember everyone complaining about how ugly the new bridge would be but I actually like it from a distance. When I actually drive over it I'm to short to see over the side wall :( You can still see a piece of the old draw bridge. They left this is place to be used by locals to fish and crab. There is also a park and picnic spot under the old bridge.
